The fans were not disappointed.” In a strange related development, Jagger—a true gentleman of the Old School—lent the band one of his many virtual guitarists for their first performance. “It was so real,” said one young fan, “you would have sworn he was actually there on-stage. I think he must have been, you know, a hologram or something.” Shortly after the performance, the virtuoso avatar, known only as Bob, disappeared back into the Ethernet. “It’s the strangest thing,” said Cronkite. “when we developed the publicity photos (see left), he was nowhere to be seen.
